The First Arab-Israeli War, 1948-1949
BattlessonTM #4
Israeli Independence is an introductory level solitaire wargame that tells the rich and engaging story of the First Arab-Israeli War – Israel’s War for Independence. Five Arab armies, poised at the borders of the newly declared state, launch their determined invasions – and each must be pushed back in turn before any reaches West Jerusalem, the new Israeli capital.
As the headlines unfold and the vast forces of the Arab League relentlessly press forward, can you successfully allocate the precious few resources of the new Israeli Defense Force (IDF) to conduct daring offensives that will send them reeling back? Can you push the Arab legions back so far that an armistice can be achieved and these threats removed? Or will you be over-whelmed and defeated, seeing Zionist aspirations crushed?
Wargames recreate situations so that they can be studied and played, and Israeli Independence is particularly well suited to classroom use. The included BattlessonTM article helps explain this useful and fascinating field of study: wargaming.

What They're Saying:
- "I recommend the game based on the ease of play, its ability to provide a tense situation, and its low cost." - Michel Boucher (Board Game Geek)
- "As a historical teaching tool, I think the game really shines. The game would be an extremely compelling way to introduce someone to the events of that period. The accompanying material in the game pack exceeds my expectations, matching the level of many highly produced war games." - Tim Deagan (Board Game Geek)
- "Serves its purpose as an introduction to board wargaming; and it succeeds in its main design objective." - Play This Thing
- "...a fun little game. It is intended to be introductory in nature, so it is not going to be earth-shattering in its impact. I am a gamer who has played his share of detailed wargames. However, for a quick wargaming fix, this game has worked for me, and I will be playing it again." - John Clocherty (Board Game Geek)
- "I found this game a quick, back and forth game. It took maybe 20 to 25 minutes to play my first game and that included cleaning up afterward. The game did provide tense moments because you can lose in a split second. It is this tension that I liked." - Michael Bowker (Board Game Geek)
